The Innocence of Youth

During our little visit to Lyman Orchards for blueberry picking last week, we decided to stop on the way out to feed the ducks and geese...there were lots of them. MK noticed that one little duck was favoring his leg and limping quite obviously. We concluded that he was wounded and had injured his leg badly. A few days later, we prayed at night and I asked the girls to offer a Hail Mary for someone in their life. We all shared who we had prayed for and MK said, "Mommy, I prayed for Papa, Father Charlie and the duck." It's in these little moments of life when I truly open my eyes to what Christ meant when he said that we must become like little children in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven. What innocence. What simplicity. What purity of heart. May we never be too busy to learn from children - often times, our greatest teachers.

Thanks Babcia. I was just thinking today how sad I am that Papa didn't really get to know MK. She is such a character and he really would have gotten a kick out of her, don't you think? Well, he'll be reunited with her one day soon. Life is a blink of an eye compared with all eternity.
