Our Baby Boy!

Gotcha thinking, didn't we?

Sorry. Well, here he is. "Mittens" Christie.

He's seven weeks old and is the newest addition to our family. We surprised the girls on Christmas morning with their first and only(?) pet. The girls and dad have been lobbying for a dog for quite some time, but mom continues to put her foot down when contemplating her foreseeable future of vacuuming hair off couches, early morning walks in sub-zero weather armed with plastic bags and pooper-scoopers, unpleasant drooling and questionable smells filling the house! Besides, we still have one adorable little person running around in diapers, so there's no shortage of questionable smells here! But mom partially "caved", giving into the pet idea by proposing a lovely little alternative...a kitten. He's self-sufficient (almost), cuddly, cute and basically non-smelly.

Nick, reading over my shoulder, assures me that we will have a dog one day. He also reminds me that I have been known to "give in" to constant badgering, so maybe it's true. But for now, while there are still so many little ones to clean up after, I'm perfectly satisfied with "Mittens" ~ I think everyone else is too!

I anxiously await new postings. Thank you for this one about your new "baby boy". I am a bit surprised about daddy's (my son) desire for a dog. Perhaps it was hidden all is life, because as a boy, in our house the subject of pets didn't come up. Oh, I am laughing, it did, but mom and dad wouldn't hear of it, as we knew it would shortly, after initial excitment, become our responsibility. I think you Sharon know what I mean. Anyway, Mitten is very cute.

Matthew finally broke me down after several years of badgering and pestering...here was the clincher.."I'll let you have another baby, if you let me get a dog". Alas...now we have baby #6..Naomi Love. And of course, the argument..."Every man needs a dog!"..we have not one, but two huge, beautiful..Great Pyrenees. (outdoor, all the time dogs!) Good luck on staying strong.... :) (I haven't regretted the dogs..in fact, I think I love them most of all!)

I just reread my comment and realized how awful that sounds about Matthew letting me have another baby for a dog...of course..that was a joke around here!.. :) We were for sure planning on having our sweet Naomi Love..just so happened that we had puppy and a baby all around the same time! :) Just wanted to clarify..so I don't sound like a weirdo! ;)
